Charlie Faye and Will Sexton

Catfish Concerts proudly presented Charlie Faye and Will Sexton on a beautiful autumn Sunday evening with the most enjoyable weather we’ve had yet!

The duo’s excellent performances matched the climate. Will opened with an incredible three-song Townes Van Zandt set, playing two first-timers at Catfish (“For the Sake of the Song,” “Brand New Companion”) and an all-time favorite (“Tecumseh Valley”). He followed with his own high watermark “All Just to Get to You” (co-written with Joe Ely) and offered a sneak peek from the brand new tunes he’s currently recording with his brother Charlie.

Charlie Faye then joined Will and delighted our crowd with several songs spanning her catalog from older (“Girl Who Cried Love”) to new (“You Were Fine, You Weren’t Even Lonely”).  Her spunky and sweet style captivated every one in the yard.

Surprise guests Payton Nicole and Finley Sexton each performed their own originals before the second set.  Finley stuck around for a stellar duet with papa Will, their family harmonies tightly woven. Charlie, Finley and Will wrapped up the evening with a hearty Catfish sing-along of Townes’ songs “Be Here to Love Me” and “Ain’t Leavin’ Your Love.” (Five Townes songs in one Catfish: A new record!)

Please join us for the next show, Sunday, December 8th, featuring the incomparable Randy Weeks.

Also, please note: Catfish Concerts will present the Gary and Francine Hartman Benefit Concert on December 11 at Antone’s, 2015 E. Riverside Dr. Please join us to support the Hartmans as they recover from the devastating floods that erased a lifetime of personal history two weeks ago. It will be at least four months before Francine and Gary, a longtime champion and historian of Texas music, can move back into their house. As the executive director of the Center for Texas Music History at Texas State University, Dr. Hartman has given so much to our music community. Now, let’s give back. All ticket sales from our show at Antone’s – featuring Ray Benson, Cody Canada, HalleyAnna, Hartman’s own Lone Star Swing Band, and more – will go directly to the Hartmans. On a personal note, Gary has been one of the biggest supporters of Catfish Concerts as well as Brian T. Atkinson and Jenni Finlay Promotions. We hope to see you at this incredible show!
